Do not do business here- You will be the problem with any issues

Very disappointing experience. I ordered a custom hot tub cover in November, it arrived in January, and the fold was on the completely wrong side — totally unusable.I provided the full spa model and dimensions, yet the company blamed me instead of acknowledging that their system allowed an incompatible option. No verification, no accountability, and no willingness to fix the issue. After seeing many similar complaints from other customers, I filed a BBB complaint and a credit‑card dispute. Sharing this so others know what to expect before ordering.

Cover Guys Spa Covers - Caveat Emptor

Cover Guys Spa Covers – Caveat EmptorBottom line up top: Cover Guys spa covers are not designed to last long in a typical spa environment. The plastic enclosing the Styrofoam will deteriorate in two to three years, and the top will become waterlogged and very heavy. Cover Guys will not honor the warranty, citing chemical damage as an exception to their coverage. I strongly suggest you take your spa cover business elsewhere. It’s too late for me, but hopefully not for you. On November 24, 2023, we ordered a spa cover from The Cover Guy for our Hot Spring Spa. This cover was the Extreme edition that included the following: 2 lb high density foam, Vapor proof barrier seal/energy shield, and a fully insulated hinge. The total cost was US$709.96. The tag on the cover said it was manufactured on December 4, 2023, and it arrived later in that month. We paid a lot for this cover, and expected it to last 7 to 8 years, as our previous two covers did. The cover came with a seven year pro-rated warranty, which was a major factor in our decision to purchase from The Cover Guy. A little more than two years later, we noticed that the top was becoming waterlogged and very heavy. When we unzipped and drained the top, we saw that the plastic bag enclosing the Styrofoam had rotted away. Further investigation revealed a corroded stabilization plate.I contacted The Cover Guy about this issue on March 13, 2026. The representative requested pictures, which we provided. On March 16, 2026, the representative told us: “We regret to inform you that our production team has identified the damage as chemical-related, which falls outside the scope of our warranty coverage. However, we genuinely want to assist you in purchasing a new cover and are happy to extend a 10% discount on your next order.”I informed them that we do not do anything unusual chemically with our spa. We use only chlorine specifically formulated for spas, we do not overchlorinate, and we do not use an ozonator or any other chemicals or shock treatments. In short, ours is a typical spa environment and the covers they make are not adequately designed to function in such an environment. In their response, they only repeated what they said before. On March 18, 2023, The Cover Guy sent me a survey asking me how I would rate the support I received. I completed the survey and informed them that I was very dissatisfied. They did not respond.Around this time, I saw a Facebook post/advertisement for the The Cover Guy and I posted about my experience in the comments. They responded, restating their stance along with the 10% off offer. I have heard nothing more from them. This was the third spa cover we have purchased for this spa. The other two covers, from different manufacturers, lasted 7 to 8 years, and they failed because of deteriorating vinyl that was exposed to weather and seams that began to fail. Neither of those covers failed or became waterlogged due to deteriorating plastic. Clearly, the failure of The Cover Guys spa cover is due to inadequate design, not chemicals. We did not accept their 10% off cover, as it was clearly inadequate. If we did take it, we get a cover that would fail within three years. It made a lot more financial sense to order a new cover at full price from a reputable manufacturer that would last 7 to 8 years. A bit of internet research revealed that our issue was not isolated. There are a great number of negative reviews out there about The Cover Guy spa covers, and not very many positive reviews. They have a major quality issue and they know it, but they will not admit it. Nor will they try to make it right with the customer, providing only a token counteroffer. I believe a class action suit is an appropriate response here, and I will be looking into it. Bottom line: Cover Guys spa covers are not designed to last long in a typical spa environment.

I just received my new vinyl weather…

I just received my new vinyl weather cover and am so disappointed. I didn't think twice about ordering it because the last one was great, stood up to wind and snow for many years. The new one is maybe one third the thickness, flimsier than my grill cover. Might make it one season, but I have my doubts. Sad.

Avoid at all costs

When I picked out a replacement spa cover, I was asked about a number of accessories, including what they call a spa cap cover. This is basically just a winterized cover that can go over the main cover to give it extra protection during the colder months. I added it to the cart. When it arrived, this cap cover did not fit. It is 84 inches x 84 inches and the hot tub cover that they made for me is 92“ x 92“. Clearly this was not going to fit. The company said that because I bought it they do not take any returns and they would not replace it. So after spending over $1200 with the company, they decide not to refund me the $99 for this cap cover that is of no use to me, nor offer to send a replacement that will work , even after I offered to pay the shipping for the return myself. I was very reasonable in trying to find a solution. It is unbelievable. On top of it, their customer service rep, or what they call their customer experience team, was completely unprofessional in their email responses back-and-forth with me during this problem. When I called, the person that answered was more professional, but still absolutely unable to help. This company is awful. Please buy from somewhere else. Do not be tempted by the initial lower price either as once you add vapor barriers, actual insulation, straps etc. their covers cost nearly the same as you would pay at your local pool store, where at least you’ll get great service.

Pathetic and will bring my business…

Pathetic and will bring my business elsewhere. Basically had the cover within the warranty period and noticed a tear on the top side and also break down of the core. The cover guy said all of the damage was because of excessive chemicals. SMH. That doesn’t even explain the tear on the top side near the seams. Never using them again nor would I recommend.

I love my new cover

I love my new cover. I upgraded the fabric to Weathershield, put Vapor barrier on it. It looks great and is very light. I paid for rush production. I put the order in on Friday and it arrived the next Thursday. The box it was in was huge (83” long) so I thought the cover had the fold the wrong way. I called Customer Service and they were great, reassuring me that if they had made the fold wrong they would replace it. Once I opened the box I saw the cover had the correct fold. A big piece of styrofoam filled the box. I couldn’t be happier with the cover or with customer service.

Cover was poorly manufactured

Cover was poorly manufactured: it did not sit flat on the hot tub. Hinge was sewn too tightly. I could not use it without cutting the hinge insulation out which left a gap between the two halves. They would not fix the problem.

Stay away.

Bought the best cover from them. $1000. Was steaming and loosing heat through the hinge. I called and sent pics. Was told it was normal. They told me I needed to purchase their hot tub cover cover. (A cover for their hot tub cover). I reluctantly purchased it ($120) then it froze to the hot tub cover due to the heat and condensation stuck between them. I called and the agent reviewed the file. He advised me that he was sorry that there is in fact something wrong with the cover. Said that he would send me a new skin with hinge. Came in and I had to swap the skin. I notice that I lose a lot of heat through the top. Snow melts quit fast compared to my factory cover. (My factory cover was only 3" thick. This new one is over 4") I called and sent videos to them stating my power bill is getting quite high due to the heat loss. They state its normal. I know 2 other people that have their covers and they do not have issues like I have.

Waterlogged cover after 2 years

The cover became waterlogged after two seasons. Straps were dry rotted and ripped off very easily. And buy straps I mean the handles on each end of the hot tub cover. Customer service is horrible. Will not back their warranty.
