No Delivery

For two weeks (the only two weeks I've been subscribed) meals have been charged and not delivered. The first instance I was promised a refund and given a credit instead. This time I am asking for a refund. This company is suspect. How can I trust their food quality if they can't even get a delivery address correct?

Paused subscription because it was not…

Paused subscription because it was not user friendly. Thought I could unpause at my discretion. Get a text that my order will be delivered tomorrow. Hard to get a hold of live person on a Sunday. Did a live chat and was told it was too late to cancel and they set an email out stating they would ship an order out and if you don’t respond to the email, they just assume you are good to go. I never opened the email. I would think I have the right to unpause subscription when I choose NOT them. Would not recommend

Rotten Food and Too Much Plastic

I was using HelloFresh for a little bit and decided to branch out. BAD IDEA. All of the produce in my Home Chef box was rotting so I had to throw a lot of it out. The chicken they sent me was also super slimy and did not taste very good when I cooked it. I didn't get sick, but I was worried about at least one ingredient making me sick for every meal. The meals were not very good and they use a ton of plastic in the wrapping that is not necessary.

Go buy groceries, this was a huge waste.

My fiance ordered a few meal kits for me to make for us. I lost my appetite making it. I can't believe how much she paid for this garbage. She asked if I was having any, there wasn't enough for 2 people, let alone her.

First order 1 meal ordered was missing

First order 1 meal ordered was missing. They sent an item not ordered but the sliced pork for that item was missing making it 2 meals incomplete. Cancelled subscription via their site & they sent another box of meals not ordered. Don't waste your money.

The most organized meal kit I’ve tried—hands down

I’ll say this to all the naysayers—give companies a little grace when things go wrong. With Home Chef, I’ve yet to have the occasional box not show up, and yes, it’s inconvenient. But, look, stuff happens, and every time their customer service will step up—either by sending a replacement or issuing a credit without hassle. That matters. And when the boxes *do* arrive (which has been ALL of the time), they’re exactly what you want: ice cold, neatly packed, and incredibly organized. Each meal is portioned perfectly, and everything you need is right there—no digging, no sorting, no chaos.I’ve tried other meal kits (including Martha Stewart’s), and the difference is night and day. Other services often require more prep, come with tiny or inconsistent produce, and leave you sorting through a pile of ingredients. Home Chef eliminates all of that. It’s efficient, thoughtful, and clearly designed with real life in mind. Are there occasional misses on flavor? Sure—I’ve had one or two meals that just weren’t my favorite. But overall, it’s been consistently five-star.What really sets them apart are the little details: the binder, the recipe cards, and the ability to build your own recipe collection over time. It feels intentional, not just transactional.I’m busy. I have to feed my family seven days a week. And Home Chef takes care of four or five of those nights—getting a solid, home-cooked meal on the table in about 30 minutes without the stress. So here’s to Home Chef for showing up, making it easy, and getting it right more often than not.

Original: So bad for multiple reasons; Update: Issues sorted, will continue subscription

Update: After Home Chef replied (on TrustPilot) we were able to sort things out. We made sure we had a set preference for delivery times, they reimbursed us on the late box for the inconvenience, and because their food is easy to make and there's such a variety with cooking methods (easy and ready to go; ingredients supplied but kind of do it yourself; heat and eat, etc) we are going to stick with it. Previous Review:So bad for multiple reasons. So inconsistent with the timing of the food - we had it early afternoon, mid afternoon, late afternoon and then what caused us to unsubscribe was when they jipped us on the food. We got a terrible, unclear photo in the dark of only the package and nothing around for context clues to where the heck they left it. We had them delivered to my boyfriend’s work and he stayed 5 hours after his shift ended to get our food and we never even received the box. $100 down the drain. Some terrible tracking service too - makes up the name of a car so you think it’s legit but it’s never been the right car either. Food’s good and the recipes are nice because you can store them and keep them for future use. I liked it bc it was like a little date night with my boyfriend cooking and eating but I literally missed out on an entire night of company (as did he) waiting for a food box that never even came. Not that they’ll do anything about it bc I emailed them earlier about delivery times and preferences (there was a choice to select that it was a business, in which case latest delivery would be 4pm. Only actually stuck to that once). And I’m 99% sure it was a bot. Go somewhere else. Factor is great. Cook Unity would be my second choice but we now have no food for the week.

Trash Logistics

The food is good but their logistics are trash. Fedex destroys packages & Veho loses packages or delivers them late.

This is just a scam

This is just a scam. Food is horrible I could not eat its first meal. I thought food is ready but I have to process food as the one you bought from market. I did not know that Home chef keeps charging my account for the next delivery in one week. This explains why they did not let customers to delete the payment method or use prepaid card so Home chef will keep charging in customer card it does matter we will allow them to charge in our card or use their food.

COMPANY IS A JOKE!!…

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN REVIEWING AN OLD ACCOUNT!!!! I received promotion info to come back to Home Chef. I logged into my old account & tried to review the available menu before making a decision. I looked at a few and the logged out, but did not place an order. But somehow an order was generated, with my account still in an "inactive" state. I did not realize this until the order had already shipped. They were even able to pick up my credit card info, without my permission, even though the one showing on my account was no longer active! When I called & explained the problem I was told they were sorry, but the could only credit me half the cost of my order. Most of the meals ate not even things I will eat! I had my account deleted from the system and will never order from Home Chef again or recommend to anyone I know. This us no way to run a business!!!
