Goldcar OVERCHARGING SCAMMERS DO NOT USEI rented Goldcar (part of Europcar) through Easyterra in Montenegro weeks in advance and no mandatory Goldcar additional charges were mentioned in EasyTerra booking documentation (e.g. winter equipment, cleaning etc.). However to be sure I called Easyterra immediately after my initial booking to confirm no additional mandatory Goldcar charges like winter tyres etc. On arrival Goldcar cheated me by forcing me to pay €60.50 for legally required winter equipment not mentioned on rental booking (mandatory snowchains not tyres). Given Goldcar were clearly untrustworthy I also paid them another €24 to avoid them charging me €67 if they fraudulently decided car was not clean enough on return) effectively paying 3 times the advertised price in total. EasyTerra were also useless when I claimed through them for totally misleading rental terms and advice from them and they refused the claim. I will now be raising credit card chargebacks. I will never use Goldcar or book through EasyTerra again and will use other suppliers in future who do not cheat customers (e.g. Sixt . Belatedly checking Trustpilot reviews its seems like Goldcar are cheating customers right across Europe and I would have thought this mis-selling is illegal under EU law.

When we arrived at the counter to collect the car we had reserved, Goldcar didn’t have one for us. We were offered a Skoda Fabia automatic as an alternative, which was a smaller/cheaper car and which I agreed to, however we were actually given an MG2 hybrid. By the time I got to the car, my only option was to rejoin the really long queue to ask to change vehicle, and as it was late in the evening, I didn’t want to inconvenience my family. I was told my rental would be discounted to account for the inconvenience, but I can’t see any evidence of this in the final invoice. The MG2 was incredibly difficult to drive on motorways due to the automatic driving features. It constantly was trying to take over the steering, limit the vehicle to 40-80km/h when passing junctions and the acceleration and handling made passengers feel sick. On the plus side, it didn’t use much fuel.

Have used gold car in Europe previously and not had any issues but on a recent trip to France they refused to accept a Mastercard which we had previously used with gold car (the man at the desk looked up our rental history and confirmed we’d used the same card but he wouldn’t let us use it this time) UNLESS we took out the 150 euro insurance. It was late at night, we had two tired kids with us and had no other option to get to our accommodation.I assume they work on commission selling the insurance and knew we had no choice. Heard others had credit cards refused and someone else on our flight stated they were holding £1000 on his credit card for ‘scratches’ that weren’t there when he left it. Has really put me off and won’t use again

GOLDCAR IS TERRIBLE. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Hired a car from Malaga Airport (31 March- 10 April 2026). I paid for a SUV car like a Peugeot 3008, instead I was given a Kia Stonic 1.2 which the man serving told me was in the same category (LOL)!!! Next, the Goldcar man advised me to return the car with low fuel/ empty, as I had to pay upfront for the full tank of fuel. I questioned this as usually it is full tank to full tank, he confirmed that there is no need to return the car with a full tank. I was then charged £48.22 for the fuel in the car. When I returned the car it was out of hours (3am) and so dropped the keys off and had nobody to ask about the fuel. Later that day, surprise, surprise Goldcar whacked an extra £65.15 on my credit card re-fueling charge!!! I phoned up Goldcar in Spain, spoke to Yousra (customer services) who advised me to email their customer service, which I did. Rosabella Asangono (customer services) emailed back, denied any knowledge of my call and claimed that the car should be returned fuel full, no apology, no refund. Seriously, what a joke this company is. NEVER, EVER again.

Frequent Flyer with Goldcar and as long as you follow the process have your licence have your physical card you booked with arrive at the right time it’s one of the best hire car companies and the best one at Malaga airport for convenience. Worth booking fast track and Stefanie at Malaga is really helpful and gave above and beyond help with a big queue it made all the difference to get a smiling face !

Despite having an insurance from a provider company (StressFreeCarRental), they implied it had no value, pressuring me into buying a more expensive one without giving a good explanation. Of course, you're on holiday and you wanna play it safe (and they know it) so you get along with it, but quite a predatory approach that is not a good look.

I have used goldcar many times,mainly through doyouspain website. Got conned once when they put gold insurance on my hire fee even though I told them I had my own excess insurance. Everyone knows to take pictures and videos and check any damage on the car before leaving the rental carpark.But as of now they are agressively charging people for marks you will never find. Even getting under the car with cameras and under the bumpers. The people leaving their car back before us were charged €400 for marks on plastic hubcabs and then the charged us €128 for a scuff on one hubcap that we missed in our pictures. It was only a scuff ,it wasn't broken. It was perfectly functionable and hard to see the mark. We definitely did not do any damage and how can they continually charge for all the damaged hubcaps and never replace them ? . The 2 people after us were also ripped off for hidden damage,which I suspect they use repeatedly to run up high charges on the customers. My advice is stay away from Goldcar. I will never use them again.

After i had to pay extra fees and extra taxese from 280E i paid 680 + they took from me 161 euros because car was dirty... and after 10 days they took 40e from my card!
