The so-called "booking helpline" is not…

The so-called "booking helpline" is not helpful at all. It was probably the most incompetent person I spoke to, ever. She had no idea about anything and clearly wanted to end the call so she could go back to her coffee break. WORST - AIRLINE - EVER

Abandoned us in Malaysia with no assistance to get home

This is the worst experience I have ever had with an airline or travel company. The level of communication and assistance offered by Etihad after the US and Israel attacked Iran, disrupting airspace in the middle east, was non-existent, bordering on criminal. We had flown out to visit our son on the 19th of February, a week before hostilities broke out. Due to fly home on the 7th of March, our flight was first rescheduled earlier the same day and then cancelled 6 hours before take off. The only emails we received after that were Etihad trying to get get us to accept a refund for the return leg so they could cut us loose. We ended up having to book tickets home from Singapore via Tokyo 2 weeks later and £5000 more than planned. I can only imagine the situation some travellers found themselves in if they didn't have any spare cash. Terrible, terrible airline. In contrast, Japan Airlines and British Airways were superb (aside from charging £1600 each for a one way ticket home).

Denied Boarding Without Reason and Marked as No Show

I arrived at Bangkok airport more than 3 hours before my flight, but after checking my passport, I was asked to wait and then suddenly denied boarding without any clear explanation. Staff only mentioned “lack of documentation” but could not explain what was missing.I contacted customer service immediately, and even they could not provide a valid reason. Despite being present on time, I was unfairly marked as a no show.As a result, I had to book a new flight with another airline and pay for additional hotel nights. Etihad opened a case but never followed up.Very disappointing handling and poor customer service. I expected much better.

Broken promises and misleading refund timelines – Case 2603065339488

Extremely disappointed with Etihad's refund process. After my booking (76BDBH) was cancelled, I received an official confirmation (Case 2603065339488) on March 6th stating that the refund would be processed within 7 to 14 working days. Today is the 16th working day and not only have I not received my money, but their support (Eric) is now suddenly claiming it will take 45 working days. This is a complete breach of their own written terms and a deceptive business practice. I thought Etihad was a premium airline, but they are holding my funds hostage and providing inconsistent information. I have already initiated a chargeback through my bank and filed a formal complaint with the aviation authorities. Avoid this airline if you value professional service and honesty regarding refunds.

Disrespectful to customers (who are vital to existence of a "service" provider)

Booked a BUSINESS CLASS ticket Bangkok-Amsterdam for March 5. Non-refundable, as I wasn't expecting war. It was cancelled for obvious reasons, with the announcement I would get new flight schedule. After several days of no information (and a lot of extra costs being stranded), I tried to contact them by phone. After more than 20 days trying to contact Thai, UAE and Dutch customer "service" (also quite expensive...), I have not been able to speak to one single human. Also no information by mail of new flights whatsoever (yes I checked spam). But meanwhile Etihad is selling tickets on the same route as if there is no customer stranded. Which not only smells like a scam, but is very disrespectful. As a frequent intercontinental flyer I will never book Etihad again, and I will make sure all my connections will never either. Meanwhile I will look for legal steps as well, since I am not the only customer in this situation.

Shockingly Awful

Flight was cancelled by them, no suitable alternative offered, so they suggested to a different location in the same country, 12 hours away by train!Offered an application to claim compensation AFTER my holiday, but nothing proactive or before. Stunned by the level of incompetence, 5 hrs on their chat trying to resolve!No customer service at all.

I had one of the most frustrating…

I had one of the most frustrating travel experiences with Etihad Airways, and unfortunately, it reflects very poorly on their operational reliability.I booked a flight through their system, received confirmation, and planned my entire journey accordingly — only to arrive at the airport and be informed that the flight quite literally does not exist. Not delayed, not rescheduled — simply non-existent. This raises serious concerns about how Etihad manages its booking and scheduling systems.It is difficult to understand how a global airline can issue confirmed tickets for flights that are not actually operating. As a passenger, you place trust in the airline’s system, expecting at the very least that the flight you booked is real. Apparently, that expectation is too ambitious here.The situation was handled with minimal clarity and little sense of urgency, leaving passengers to deal with confusion, stress, and unnecessary inconvenience at the airport.I would strongly advise Etihad Airways to review its internal coordination between booking platforms and actual flight operations. Selling “invisible flights” is not exactly the standard one expects from an international airline.Extremely disappointing experience.

Total lack of customer care

We were in Sri Lanka and due to fly back to London Heathrow via Abu Dhabi on 9th March 2026. Got an email from Etihad on the evening of 8th March, informing us that due to ongoing regional restrictions, they were unable to accommodate us on our flight. Said they couldn't find a suitable alternative, so would automatically process a refund. Speaking to an Etihad representative at the airport, we were told our seats on the second flight - from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow, had been allocated to passengers that had been stranded over the previous week. We had effectively been "bumped off" our flight and our booking had disappeared from the Etihad app. The representative assured us that we would receive an email within 24 hours with a new flight offer which we could then accept or change. This did not happen and we heard absolutely nothing further from them. Had no choice but to book our own flights home 5 days later at considerable cost. We incurred significant expenses by being denied our original flights home with Etihad. Totally fobbed off by them at the airport, then zero communication. Will never fly Etihad again.

My flight was canceled due to the ongoing middle east crisys. i filled the refund form but its been 3 weeks and no refund was issued.Its impossible to contact them trough any of the communication channels.Never again...
