Content is well structured and easy to follow. Progress feels slow. Good for absolute beginners but not much beyond that

It is okay if you just started learning new language, but to be honest - there are alternatives on the market with better quality and less AI generated stuff

Worst application for learning English )
I lost 1 year from my life every day entering in this application, reading and repeating a lot of words and phases, bad system of teaching, after 1 year I’m not able at all to speak normally English )

Bad chess instructor, unfair chess, everything paid etc
Duolingo loves money like i can only make 25 questions a day and if i win a chess match my elo goes up by 5 and if i lose by 30 and the chess instructor i sh’’t at chess himself

Won't be Renewing
Essentially you have to now pay for the same experience you used to get for free, so that leaves a bad taste straight of the bat.Whatever language you're learning, Duo assumes you're an American English speaker with no other options. It can almost be like learning two languages at once, one of which you never signed up for.The app also relentlessly pushes DEI into its lessons by using fictitious characters of multiple ethnicities and sexualities, which comes across as preachy and to be honest patronising.That said, many of the lessons are enjoyable, and I do feel I've learned stuff, but when my year's up I won't be renewing.

Unable to improve my Spanish
I am leaning Spanish now with my Spanish tutor. I did try Duolingo but it's so bad with grammars. It insists to use the words they desire otherwise loose a life. It was fun at the beginning but now just irritating.

If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. The incessant making you sign up for Super! Somehow I did this and then didn’t receive any notifications of the free trial ending either by text or by email. I went to the app to contact customer service and they just pass the buck on to Apple. I have tried to email them, so will see what they say, and also contacted Apple for a refund so will also update on that. Shocking service here, and will be reporting to trading standards, particularly as I had notifications for completing a f***ing lesson but not for the subscription. Ridiculous. I have since been recommend Pimsleur and will be deleting my Duo and switching.

New users - don’t choose this app
New users - don’t choose this app! They just made an “upgrade” with AI, and it’s a mess. Languages mixed together, things disappearing and a lot of other super annoying stuff that you wouldn’t want to pay for! Pls read users comments on social media before signing up- as they don’t have a customer service.

I used Duolingo for 11 years
I used Duolingo for 11 years, I deleted the app now. I applied for several part time and full time roles, did not advance. When I asked a recruiter what the role looked for in applicants, the recruiter was extremely rude when I pointed out that my experience in learning for 11 yrs on Duolingo should factor into the application. I was told that applicants needed to have other skills (MA in business) besides interest in learning languages, and told 'this may be hard to hear.' The application expectations of wanting MAs or PhD applicants for part time roles is appalling. I deleted the app after this experience. Besides their new changes and AI use is terrible. Never using this app again.

What a dismal outfit🤮
Very poor restructure! Been studying German for three years. Every unit has a legendary option, once you’ve completed a unit you can go back over it and complete it again to gain legendary status. They reshuffled the units and stripped my legendary status on all but one of the units, no biggie I thought, good practice to go back over the units (bare in mind these are already completed units apparently). So I begin the recap only to find multiple words that I’ve never been taught! Three years of daily study down the toilet. I’ve contacted them but no reply. What a dismal outfit🤮
