Reset workshop for 2026? More Like a Recruitment Drive!

In January, my sister and I paid to attend what was advertised as a 1½-hour “Reset for 2026” workshop. We travelled nearly an hour and paid for city centre parking, expecting a structured, intention-setting session. What we received was roughly 15 minutes of organisational promotion, 15 minutes of very basic breathing exercises and hand movements and then an extended push to sign up for an expensive course. The phrase “It’s not an expense, it’s an investment” was repeated several times. The majority of the session felt like a sales pitch rather than a workshop. An attendee who claimed to have completed the full course spoke at length about how “life-changing” it was and dismissed concerns about the high price. When questioned why she was there if she’d already completed it, she said she’d come back because she’d forgotten her mantra and was told she could be reminded “for a small fee.” This interaction felt staged and only reinforced the sense that the event was designed to persuade people to enrol.People had travelled significant distances, including individuals with disabilities who had arranged carers, only to receive what amounted to about 15 minutes of actual content. After emailing Art of Living to complain, I was told we would receive a refund but it never arrived. In short: this was marketed as a workshop but felt like a promotional funnel into a costly course. Very disappointing and, in my view, misleading.

Art of living Frankfurt

Art of living Frankfurt. The organizer did not have an answer about the charity projects Art of Living supports as they say. It would need time to look things up she said...;)

As I'm know about myself how much I’d an overthinking person. Before 5 years ago in our institute had invited art of living teachers to give some living lesson. Aaj bhi mujhe unka name yaad hai Mrs. Bhawna team from ambala city art of living group is gives such kind magic of living tricks. They totally finished my overthinking mind to a normal mind. Canada Ashram - Great place for meditation & courses. Poor travel management for international travellers staying in hotels

Art of Living Center - Canada - Great place for meditation and courses.Food and on-site accommodation are good and generally well managed.International and out-of-state travelers should be extremely cautious about the “hotel + shuttle” option. The event advertised shuttle pickup and drop-off. As an international traveler with limited knowledge of the Ashram’s remote location, I relied entirely on this service for the Sanyam 2 course. The daily schedule runs 6:45 am to ~9:00–9:15 pm, with a 45-minute commute each way from partner hotels. What followed was repeated mismanagement, poor communication, and dismissive treatment, especially toward hotel shuttle guests.Core IssueThe Ashram hosted a large winter event despite known risks of buses getting stuck (this reportedly happened in Oct 2025 as well), yet no on-site road assistance or contingency transport was arranged—despite hundreds of attendees.Hotel shuttle guests were consistently misinformed, deprioritized, and blamed for failures outside their control.Day-by-Day IssuesDay 1Airport shuttle got stuck between the gate and Ashram. International travelers waited ~1 hour and reached hotels at 11:45 pm, leaving very little rest before 6:45 am sadhana.Day 2A day prior, Travel supervisor vaguely announced shuttle pickup as “5:45–6:00 am” without clarifying hotel-specific cutoffs:• Comfort Inn: 5:45 am• Energy Hotel: 6:00 amGuests at Comfort Inn exiting after 5:45 were left behind due to misinformation and scrambled for transport in a remote area.Day 3A handwritten note (no announcement) stated buses leave at 9:30 pm. This ignored:• ~12- 15minute walk to reception• ~10 minutes to retrieve shoes• Snow, children, elderly participants• Rush hour and chaos at the exit, people crowding to leave meditation hallWhen delays occurred, travelers were blamed instead of adjusting logistics.Day 4A Toronto bus got stuck again. Hotel guests were told to wait at Purna Cafe for ~1–1.5 hours and were falsely told the hotel bus had not arrived, while it was actually being used to transport local parking attendees. Result: another night of severe sleep deprivation.Day 5Despite known winter risks, the Ashram invited ~100+ additional guests with only 2 onsite buses. Satsang ended at ~9:15 pm with no adequate transport plan. Hotel guests (~30–50 people) were again delayed ~1 hour at Purna Cafe, despite a hotel bus being on site. Few had early international flights. Another night of sleep deprivation for hotel guests as we completely relied on shuttle to get us back.Confrontation With Travel Supervisor (Day 5)Q1: Why are hotel guests made to wait when the bus was already at the Ashram?“We needed two buses for local parking attendants. If you were at the bus by 9:30, we could have boarded you.”→ In reality, guests were told the bus will be there soon, while it was used elsewhere. We were made to wait 1 hour at Puurna Cafe for the mismanagement.Q2: How long will we wait? Why not leave now (9:40 pm) ?“I don’t know. If you wanted to leave at 9:30, you should have left satsang at 8:30.”(Shocking and suggests leaving mid-satsang while Gurudev was still present.)Q3: Why should international travelers trust shuttle services here?“I don’t know. You signed terms and conditions. This is private property. Our rules apply.”Q4: Who is responsible for repeated sleep deprivation?“I don’t know. I haven’t slept either. Step aside.”Q5: Why no dedicated hotel bus or extra buses for 250 people?“It’s holidays. It’s difficult to arrange buses.”→ Despite the event being planned long in advance.Q6: Who is your superior? Can we escalate?“I am the supervisor. I am the authority.”→ Walked away and refused further discussion. Please book your own rental cab and don’t rely on shuttle, it’s a remote location. They are completely dismissive of concerns from shuttle participants staying at hotel, since they are only a small number. People with special needs (health, pregnant ladies, people with kids) never book shuttle if you have an hotel accommodation.

Rigid, corporate, bureaucratic (and expensive) approach to customers and teaching breathing/meditation technique

I read about the breathing practice that they teach in the book Breath by James Nestor and was interested in learning the practice. From the start, I noticed that the organization was vast and operated in a very "corporate sales" type of way. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the five free videos and signed up for the introductory class (three hours, three consecutive days, on Zoom, all for $300). The website states "Flexible rescheduling at no additional cost." I attended the first two sessions. To my surprise, only a small part of the time was spent on the actual breathing/meditation practice (certainly less than an hour). Much of the time was simply endless talk. As someone who has been involved in prior meditation practices, self-help, therapy (and is a licensed psychologist), I was not interested in all of that and found it forced, boring, and tedious. Nonetheless, I was polite and listened and participated as needed. The second session ran over 3.5 hours (half an hour longer than promised) and I was really not pleased about that - not only was it tedious, but it was also disrespectful to the participants who had committed on the basis of a set ending time. Nonetheless, I planned to complete the third session and attempt the breathing practice. However, a serious family emergency came up. I immediately emailed the instructor to explain (in detail) why I would not be attending. I was told - both by him and others, and repeatedly when I asked again several days later - that I would have to repeat the ENTIRE three sessions in order to be given access to the breathing App, i.e., that I could not join a third session as I was requesting. I frankly thought this both ridiculous and again quite disrespectful of my time. What it tells me is that this group is more interested in docility in its participants than anything else - probably because it seeks to enroll them in more courses and involve them more deeply (in what may be a somewhat "cult-like" or perhaps "cult adjacent" organization). Clearly I had hit a wall when I refused to redo the first two sessions (something for which there was no real need whatsoever, given at least average intelligence and the ability to follow simple directions). Not to mention the fact that, if the breathing/meditation technique is as effective as they say it is, the rest of the course should be largely unnecessary. Therefore I am giving this organization one star (at best). There are other breathing techniques available and they do not put up these types of barriers (not to mention costs) and I intend to look into them instead.

Dodgy nowadays.. Insisting CASH payments ONLY

The Breathing techniques are great, However nowadays they are insisting on CASH payments only which is dodgy and not in line with their Published policies. for e.g. bangaloreashram.org welcome-noteIn a way they are Tricking you, i.e. At the time of registration they don't mention about Cash payments confirm all ok and ask to book/submit Flight and then Once you booked flight they mention about Cash payments. I have even requested them I prefer to make Digital payment but they bluntly refuse. I have evidence of All these communication if needed.
