We purchased a couple of photos for our website of a project we had completed. few months later Alamy's "fair licensing" department. Sent aggressive invoices for what Alamy identifies as unlicensed use. Apparently as a company with more than 1 employee we are not a single user. I tried to talk to them but the do not answer any phone or phone back when requested. A truly appalling customer service, avoid them if you can.

Great images and always very helpful. Ryan & the whole time are very well manned on the phone and a real asset to the company 😁

If only one photo in a submission fails, all the others are rejected without even being assessed. I actually have some very good pictures of animals and rare moments. I compared these images with others on Alamy and found many that were far worse than mine, yet they seemed to have passed the quality check.Rejecting all uploaded pictures in a submission just because one fails? Seriously? As photographers, that’s exactly how we work, right? We take hundreds of shots, discover one tiny flaw in a single image and immediately think, “Well, that’s it. Better delete the entire shoot.” Totally logical. It doesn’t make sense.Better not waste your time on Alamy. Find a platform that has a reasonable system for reviewing each uploaded image individually instead of using such a questionable approach.I’ve deleted my account. Good luck finding new users with these quality control rules, as if people have the time to study all of your rules.Bye

The people at Alamy were enormously helpful and the primary reason I give the company 5 stars. They helped me over several years and throughout the process of choosing images for my new book "Both Sides of the Pond, My Family'y War: 1933-1946." Someone knowledgeable always responded promptly to my questions. The charges for this service were reasonable and lower than some other sources. Thank you Alamy!

As an 84-year-old woman, I was putting my material online to be available to others after I pass. I inadvertently uploaded a photo from google search not noticing the Almay mark.On February 4, 2026, I got an email from Almay who wanted me to pay $500 for copyright infringement. I took down the photo and explained my naivety and mistake. They continue to insist I pay $500 for copyright infringement. Until today. Now, it is discounted to $450.00. I have involved legal and government support, and will not pay. However, others ought to be aware of this type of culture.

We are a charity who helps local community with various projetcs i.e. free food, fruits etc. Donation to Homeless People and so many other things that we try and struggling a lot and on the verge of closing down. One of our volunteers created a leaflet, and 1 of the images belong to alamy which no one knew. It was an genuine mistake. Upon Notifying, we took the leaflet down within 1 hour. And also apologised for the honest mistake. Provided Proof of being a Charity and explain the financial position. BUT LOOKS LIKE, they are more interested to get £400+ money for a pic which is selling for £30 - £40. This has to be a SCAM. THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED. WHEN ASKED, HOW CAN I CHECK TO AVOID SUCH ISSUES IN THE FUTURE OR EDUCATE US, there is no guidelines rather they are pushing for money. WE WILL NOT PAY AND TAKE THIS TO ALL OVER UK AND GET A PUBLIC OPINION OF YOUR ACTIVITY.--> 24/02/2026Based on your reply: Please look into Case Ref: F11IAP and from Copyright Agent: AMY-2026-01-0738 (SAME PICS in 2 different places which were removed within 30 mins - 1 hour upon your email)

These guys are basically running an extortion racket. Just like the many other reviewers on here, you purchase off them and then they will repeatedly send you these aggressive and unfounded emails requesting additional funds and that you dont have a licence etc. Stay away from them, they dont deserve your money.

The worst customer service. Instead of allowing me to upgrade my individual license to a team license and apply what I had already paid, they want me to purchase an additional license for the same image and triple the charges. What a scam they run. Unlike other photo image sites that allow one to transfer a purchased license to another individual, they won't do that, will not discuss it and hangs up on you if you ask to speak with a supervisor. Will never use this site again and hope the go under.

This company have to have the worst customer services by far, you try and contact them by email and they don't respond, sometimes for as long as 10 days but they are happy to keep sending you emails demanding payment. As for their lack of responses to the reviews left on here, this just goes to show what a scam this is and the fact that they really couldn't care less about their customers or concerns as long as the dollar keeps rolling in for them. Avoid at all costs

Worst commission structure for contributors sold 400$ worth of images by November 2025 and got 45$ after deduction of Alamy own commissions. People who buy media from such website should keep in mind most of the amount they pay for goes to Alamy not to creator of the Art!
